MAKEUP REVOLUTION LIP LAVA IN FORGIVEN

MAKEUP REVOLUTION LIP LAVA IN FORGIVEN

Hey Lovelies today's post is about this budget beauty buy from Makeup Revolution from the I love makeup range, which I stumbled upon by accident.  Now a couple of weeks ago I was out in central London and realised I had not brought any lip products with me what a epic fail!  So I popped into Superdrug and this caught my eye and at £2.99 I thought it is worth a try.  Now these are described as  a intense lipstick formula melted to create a gloss which are long lasting and have added vitamin E.

There are 5 shades in total in the range this is shade Forgiven a rose brown neutral shade.  It goes on like a gloss using the sponge applicator then dries to leave a Matt finish which is really comfortable on the lip.  It is long lasting with it only needing to be reapplied  once thought the day.  What more could you ask for at £2.99 they are margin and well worth checking out!

Have you tried any of the Lip lavas?

RiRi BY RIHANNA EAU DE PERFUME REVIEW*

RiRi BY RIHANNA EAU DE PERFUM REVIEW

RiRi by Rihanna* is the first fragrance I have tried from the Rihanna range of perfumes there are 6 in total and this is the newest release having been released in September 2015.  Now when I think about what a Rhianna fragrance would be like I think it should be fun, flirty with an edge to it just like she is.  Lets talk about the packaging first it comes in a black, pink and gold box with textured ridging on the side like the lid.  It has a gold bottom and then pink logo and top.  The same style is emulated with the bottle design, it is a sleek luxurious looking clear glass bottle with a pinky purple coloured scent.  Topped with a gold ball top and black ridged neck it finishes off the style of the bottle. It would look really pretty on any dressing table as the pink is a such a pretty hue.

RiRi BY RIHANNA EAU DE PERFUM REVIEW

The fragrance has a floral and fruity scent, which is really feminine unfortunately you can't get smell o vision so I will do my best to describe the scent.  When you first spray the perfume it is sweet and fruity and then you can smell passion fruit & Orange.   As well it has a floral and wood undertone to the scent so really girly and feminine and lasts through out the day.  When it comes to scents I always go for sweet and fruit scents so this makes a nice addition to my collection.  The celebrity fragrance market has boomed in the last few years and become more and more popular, offering some really credible fragrances this is one of them.  Fragrances always smell different on everyone but if you like girly fruity floral fragrances this could be the one for you.  The fragrance comes in three different sizes 30ml £23, 50ml £30 and 100ml £40  and is available nationwide.

Have you tried any of Rhianna's fragrances?

BARRY M SPEEDY NAIL PAINT SPRING 2016 COLLECTION*

BARRY M SPEEDY NAIL PAINT SPRING 2016 COLLECTION

Hey lovelies today I bring you another nails post from one of my favourite high street brands Barry M, the first you saw last week.  Which was the new shades from the Gelly range and now another new SS16 launch new shades for the Speedy Range.  You will all know I have been wearing Barry M nail polishes for years and you will have seen one of my all time favourite nail paints Speedy Grey which I have used bottles of so many I can't count on the blog before.  For spring 2016 they have added 4 new shades, I wanted to share with you all to expand the already 20+ shades in the current range.

BARRY M SPEEDY NAIL PAINT SPRING 2016 COLLECTION

From L - R you have Personal Best a dusty mauve shade and Freestyle a dusty pink shade.

BARRY M SPEEDY NAIL PAINT SPRING 2016 COLLECTION

From L - R you have In a flash a very light pastel pink shade and then wining streak a soft beige pastel.  I have swatches them all below using 2 coats of each colour as you can see they leave a good level of finish.

BARRY M SPEEDY NAIL PAINT SPRING 2016 COLLECTION

These are all great shades and I would say they are all pastel shades but some great new additions to the current range.  I love these nail paints and they dry so quick they literally take a minute or two to dry, which if you are impatient like me they are great.  I really pleased to see they now sport the wider new flat brush making application more seamless.  My favourite shade at current is wining streak a great pastel beige.  At £3.95 these are available at Superdrug and Boots.

URBAN DECAY GWEN STEFANI EYE PALETTE REVIEW AND SWATCHES

URBAN DECAY GWEN STEFANI PALETTE REVIEW AND SWATCHES

Hey lovelies today's post I bring you all about the second palette I have been loving this last month the first one was from Zoeva Rose Gold palette and then there is this gorgeous number from the Gwen Stefani Urban Decay range.  As soon as I saw this palette I knew I wanted in my collection as it it just really beautiful from inside to outside.  So we all know that Gwen Stafani teamed up with the fabulous people at Urban Decay and I think this is their first celeb collaboration that I have seen or can recall the brand doing and what a collaboration!  Together they have created a range of products which are being released in two phases from what I know so far first came this eye shadow palette and then the blush palette, lipsticks, lip pencils and brow products.

URBAN DECAY GWEN STEFANI PALETTE REVIEW AND SWATCHES

First up lets talk about the packaging the case it self is pretty impressive and comes in this very study weighted hard case that shuts with a bang (I love the feel of this packaging it feels really luxury).  It has been designed to incorporate Gwen's love of black and white with graphics prints and a touch of gold thrown in, which I love and feel is very Gwen.  On the outside it has been designed to look like a empty palette with just a simple gold logo on it, then when you open it up it has 15 fabulous eye shadows set inside.  I love the huge mirror that you have inside as it is the full size of the palette and has the inscription "Magic in the Makeup" imprinted on to it.   Now their are 15 eye shadows 12 new ones and 3 re promotes from the permanent range.  Gwen has named all the new shadows in the palette by names they reflect her songs for example Steady and Pop.

URBAN DECAY GWEN STEFANI PALETTE REVIEW AND SWATCHES
URBAN DECAY GWEN STEFANI PALETTE REVIEW AND SWATCHES

As you can see there is a good mix of Matt and shimmer shades within the palette giving a good balance of textures and finnishes.  The palette is neutral based with a few pops of colour this palette I am sure will appeal to a lot of different people.  My Current favourites have been Pop, Punk and 1987 my only gripe would be there are a couple of shades when blended out are very similar for example skimp, bath water and blonde are only marginally different in tone.  Overall I really like this palette and have got a lot of use out of it so far!

Do you own anything from Urban Decay Gwen Collaboration?

BARRY M GELLY NAIL PAINT SPRING 2016 COLLECTION*

BARRY M GELLY HIGH SHINE SPRING 2016 COLLECTION

Hey lovelies today I bring you a nails post for a change and from one of my favourite high street brands Barry M and the first of the new SS16 launches.  Now I have been wearing Barry M nail polishes for years and you will have seen some of the Gelly nail polish before on this blog as they are super affordable at £3.99 and deliver such shiny nails.  For spring 2016 they have added 4 new shades, I wanted to share with you all to expand the already 30+ shades in the current range.  The shades never disappoint and are highly pigmented, glossy and give a gel like finish and I am yet to find a bad one.

BARRY M GELLY HIGH SHINE SPRING 2016 COLLECTION

First up from L - R you have  Acai Smoothie a lovey berry mauve shade then Pink Lemonade a light pinky mauve this is one of my favourite shades for everyday.

BARRY M GELLY HIGH SHINE SPRING 2016 COLLECTION

Then you have L-R Cream Soda a green toned light white nail shade and Butterscotch Sundae a lovely pale brown nude.

BARRY M GELLY HIGH SHINE SPRING 2016 COLLECTION

As you can see these are four great new shades to add to the collection which are good everyday colours.  All of these come with the great wide brush so easy application which helps you give a smooth finish.  They are quick to dry, long lasting and I only needed two coats to get the shade.

Available from Superdrug and Boots now for £3.99.

Whats your favourite Barry M nail paint?

ZOEVA ROSE GOLD PALETTE REVIEW AND SWATCHES

ZOEVA ROSE GOLD PALETTE REVIEW AND SWATCHES

Hey lovelies today I bring you a review and swatches of one of my current favourite eye shadow palettes which you will have seen in my January Favourites it has been a fight between two palettes.  It is this beautiful palette from Zoeva cosmetics which I picked up last month having used it through out January here are my thoughts.   This is the Rose gold edition there are several different palettes available around 12 in different sizes, but this one caught my eye.  I have had a obsession with Rose gold on Pinterest and thought this would be a great palette to add to my collection a bit different to what I currently have.  Now I decided to order this direct from Zoeva as I was buying a brush set as one of mine had died / broken so worked out better value for money this way.  Zoeva is also stocked in the uk by Beauty Bay so you don't have to order direct at £15.50 for 10 eyeshadows it works out at £1.50 a shadow.  Making it super affordable just above high street prices but below high end makeup so what do we think of the quality of these eyeshadows?

ZOEVA ROSE GOLD PALETTE REVIEW AND SWATCHES

The name of the palette clearly gives away what colour theme was going to be arrays and shades of rose gold which has been one popular colour palette in 2015.  The packaging is comes in the rusty copper toned cardboard light weight packaging which houses the eye shadows within slimline and light nothing fussy.  Inside there are 3 matt shades Harmony, Wonderfull and Luster.  Then 7 shimmer shades Foil, Just a Rose, Golden Rule, Rusty Petals, Shinning Bright, coppers King, reflective elegance and Luster. These eyeshadows have to be some of the most pigmented and creamy ones that I own in my collection they blend like a dream there is a small amount of fall down but nothing more than normal but they have amazing stay power!  The palette is Paragon free has no fragrance and no mineral oils in them so good for anyone with more sensitive skins like me I found no irritation or issues when I wore these all day.

ZOEVA ROSE GOLD PALETTE REVIEW AND SWATCHES

The palette has a array of golden and smokey tones varying from brown to a copper rose gold and I  have been enjoying creating copper smokey eyes it is like nothing else really in my collection.  My favourites have to be Copper is King and Rusty petals but I also like Luster as a crease shade for blending and Golden Rule for highlighting around the brow bone.  As I mention they have great staying power lasting all day with little / minimal creasing and you get a lot of shadow for you money this little palette really exceeded my expectations and I love it.  I will definitely be adding more of these Zoeva palettes to my collection!

B. REPLENISHED FACIAL OIL REVIEW

B. REPLENISHED FACIAL OIL REVIEW

Hey Lovelies today I was going through my skin care and sorting it out when I realised I had to shared with you all about this product.  As I have been using for the past 6-8 months.   I can't remember exactly when I started using this product but I know it was the beginning of the summer last year so thought it was time to share my thoughts.  There are hundreds of oils available on the market so it is really important if you want to introduce one into your skin care you decide what you want your oil to do.  I wanted to add hydration to my skin and use it in the evening as part of my skincare routine to allow time for the oil to sink into the skin.   B. Skin care from Superdrug if you have not seen has been available a while now they aim to be easy to use, cruelty free & a vegan friendly brand.  They have skincare, makeup and a mens range available exclusively at Superdrug.

B. REPLENISHED FACIAL OIL REVIEW

This is the Replenished facial oil there are a couple different ones in the range radiant, enriched and this one replenished.  As you can see that I have used 3/4 of the bottle so I must like it!  Now facial oils have really exploded on to the beauty market in 2015 and become much more affordable and accessible.  The science bit says this oil has a antioxidant rich formula which delivers added vitamin C and E and moisture and softening to the skin through the Rosehip, Argan and Crambe oil.  Rosehip oil is really rich in antioxidants and is meant to also have anti ageing properties combined with the well know Argan oil full of Vitamin E I can see this is a good combination.  Crambe oil was not a oil I had ever heard of but when at the time I googled around (good old google!) I found it has properties which promote moisturising and suppleness to the skin so I will be definitely looking out for this in other products in the future.  I am no expert on oils but really like how this leaves my skin I apply at night time and in the morning feel my skin is really smooth and supple.  I apply around 3 drops from the pipet and then massage into the face and neck for a few minutes, it does leave a typically oil finish which is why I use this at night time, as I then can leave it on over night.   I have had no issues with breaking out or causing congestion on the skin and use it on average twice a week.  If I have particular dry skin or I am doing a mini facial normally on a Sunday evening then I would use this as my last stage in my routine.  At £13.99 it is not super expensive and they quite often have offers on at the moment you can buy one get one free!

Have you tried anything from the B. range ? What is your favourite facial oil?

JANUARY MAKEUP AND BEAUTY FAVOURITES 2016

JANUARY MAKEUP AND BEAUTY FAVOURITES 2016

Hey Lovelies today's post is all about January gulp favourites well this has felt like the longest month to me and christmas seems just a distant memory now.  So this month I have had chance to play with lots of new products that were luckily gifted to me at christmas santa was really good to me.  My one and only skin care favourite comes in the shape of this oil from this Superdrug brand B. it is the Replenished facial oil I have been using this product for months in my evening routine but this month I really upped the usage as my skin was super dehydrated.

JANUARY MAKEUP AND BEAUTY FAVOURITES 2016

Makeup wise I feel it has been the battle of these two palettes from Zoeva and Urban Decay.  They are both equally as beautiful and I could not choose between the two of them first ups the Zoeva rose gold palette which I picked up along side some of their brushes.  This palette has really exceeded my expectations and quickly became a firm favourite.  Quality vs Spend these eyeshadows are super pigmented and creamy they do give a small amount of fall out but they are too pretty more to come on this palette.  The other palette in my life has been the gorgeous Gwen Stefani eye shadow palette my favourite shades are Steady, Pop and Baby.  There are also some great crease and matt shades in this palette I really like the shade 1987 to highlight.  I love the packaging and the big mirror in this palette and the fact the majority of shades are neutral.   This last month I have rediscovered my love for YSL Le Teint foundation a very light weigh foundation I wear shade 50 it has a really buildable coverage but gives a flawless look.

JANUARY MAKEUP AND BEAUTY FAVOURITES 2016

For on the go I have been loving these Nudestix in gilt and immortal long lasting quick and easy to use I love a chunky eye pencil.  Eye liner wise hands down it has to be this Charlotte Tilbury Rock 'n' Khol liquid eye pencil in Amber Moon this is too good it does not budge and lasts all day I definitely will be buying more of these probably one of the best eye liners I have used.  Last up by no means least is the Urban Decay all nigh setting spray I had wanted to try this for a long time so I picked it up in December in the travel size to help my makeup last the party season.  I have been using this directly on to my real techniques sponge so it mixes in with my foundation and give it staying power making a big difference.

What have been your favourites this month?

NUDESTIX IN GILT & IMMORTAL REVIEW + SWATCHES

NUDESTIX IN GILT & IMMORTAL REVIEW + SWATCHES

Hey lovelies today I bring you a post all about these beauties from Nudestix now I was too excited when I received these for christmas from my sister in Australia.  You may not of heard of this brand I first heard about them from the Lovely Youtuber Chloe Morello so you can imagine my excitement when I received these at christmas as it was a brand I really wanted to try!  Now first up look how amazing the tin is! it is a limited edition tin called 'dipped in sugar' designed by Jessica Garlicky I love the fact that there is a mirror in the lid great for travel! Now if you have not head off the brand Nudestix they are a mother daughter owned label of easy to use make up crayons.  I have this lovely duo of eyeshadow sticks from the magnetic eye colour in immortal and Gilt.

NUDESTIX IN GILT & IMMORTAL REVIEW + SWATCHES
NUDESTIX IN GILT & IMMORTAL REVIEW + SWATCHES

I love eyeshadow pencils as they are really great for on the go quick and easy to apply.  These are particular good as they are long lasting and don't budge at all even on oily lids I am impressed.  It does mean they dry very quickly and so you have to blend them in very quickly according to the added info you use the gold (Gilt) pencil to prime the lid and then use the bronze immortal pencil over the top.  I personally use them separately as a quick on the go eye shadow smudged in with a finger easy to use.  I have to mention the sharper as it is actually really good sharpens with minimal wastage of product plus compact to travel with.

Have you tried Nudestix?

2015 YEARLY BEAUTY, HAIR AND MAKEUP FAVOURITES

2015 YEARLY BEAUTY, HAIR AND MAKEUP FAVOURITES

Hey Lovelies, today I am bringing you a round up of last years favourites for the whole year.  Which was surprisingly really hard to narrow down as there was too many good products that I discovered and loved through 2015.  Here is a small selection of the top products I was loving of which none will be a surprise to you as you will have seen them grace the presents of MyBeautySleuth before.

2015 YEARLY BEAUTY, HAIR AND MAKEUP FAVOURITES

First up I am going to start with hair as this had to be the easiest category for me to choose as there are really only two go to products for me Mark Hill Taming Anti Humidity spray and Colab dry shampoo to be honest, this is Tokyo scent but I love all the scents a great dry shampoo that comes out clear.  Tan wise I have mainly been using this self tanning lotion by TanWorx a great non streaking coconut smelling and natural colouring fake tan.  On the nails Seiche Vite top coat has been my go to top coat of choice making my Mani / Pedi's last out the week.  On to fragrancebthere has only been one that made the cut into my collection and a good one at that Chanel Chance Eau vive I can not resist.  Skin care wise my number one discovery has to be another product from Chanel Hydra Beauty Micro serum ultra hydrating and definitely worth the money it has become a firm favourite in my routine.  Next up a must have and essential in this cold winter weather, lip balm and my current favourite that banishes the driest lips is I picked this up in duty free ( aprox 1/3 cheaper)  Creme de la Mer lip balm

2015 YEARLY BEAUTY, HAIR AND MAKEUP FAVOURITES

Makeup wise I felt last year was the year of the concealer war for me and two of which became my firm favourites were Clarins Instant Concealer and Urban Decay Naked Concealer.  The tool that made my skin look flawless was the Real Techniques miracle complexion sponge even though I first discovered it back in 2013 I felt last year was the year I actually got proper use of it and made a difference to my base.  On the subject of bases Chanel Vitalumiere aqua is the foundation that I always go back to time and time again I think I must of bought several bottles last year as it is so natural and light weight on.  On the cheek it has been Mac powder blush in Margin a high frost peachy brown and then Nars Laguna bronzer to sculpt those cheeks ( Ha Ha who am I kidding).  Last up but no means least is the Maybelline Lash Sensational mascara that has been my favourite giving both volume and length.

What have you favourite products of 2015 been?

LA ROCHE POSAY EFFACLAR BB BLUR*

LA ROCHE POSAY EFFACLAR BB BLUR*

Hey lovelies hope you are having a good day today I bring you a post all about this new product from  La Roche-Posay.  Now I wear foundation pretty much every day yep there is the odd few days when I don't but the majority yes I do and it is not because I can't I just do because I suffer from a skin condition called Psorais and it stops the 300000 questions and explanations more on that later.  Now as I like to call them Alphabet creams and they have been on the the market for a while now.  They all claim to do different things but the vast majority do not offer the highest level or the greatest coverage so I never what to entirely relinquish my foundation only to the the few who do.  When La Roche posay one of my long time favourite skin brands decided to bring out a BB cream I was interested to see what it was like as they have such amazing skin care products.

Normally ABC creams are designed for those people who are fortunate to have amazing skin no blemishes and need little coverage I don't fall into that category as I have psoriasis which I prefer to camouflage.  I have to say this is designed best for oily skins which I don't entirely have but I have skin that fluctuates from dry to combination and more so on the combination as I get older.  So I wanted to give it a go as I love La Roche-Posay skin care and I always looking for new base alternatives.  I have to say that I was really impressed by the level of coverage I did not need to use concealer which is not often and it left my skin pretty flawless which probably comes from the Blur factor.  I can definitely see if you have full on oily skin how it controls, absorbs the oil in as it did really well on my patches.  Designed to blur away the fine lines and blemishes giving you a flawless finish iI really achieved a great finish with just using my fingers to apply.  I have the shade light/medium it is shame they only have two shades as light medium is definitely on the darker colour and medium shade which is fine as I have still some tan from Mexico.  When you squeeze it out the tube the product comes out in a whipped texture and it is really light weight.  It has a matt finish to it and lasts around 7/8 hours it has become my go to off duty base!  A little goes a longway I have been using this over a month and hardly used any product.

Available exclusively online at  Escentual on offer for £11.00 (£16.00 full price)

WHAT'S IN MY MAKEUP BAG

WHATS IN MY MAKEUP BAG

Hey lovelies today I bring you a post all about what is currently residing in my every day makeup and as you can see some familiar products if you follow me on Instagram.  First up lets talk about the makeup bag this one is from Kiko from the Rebel romantic range.   Pretty shade is it not I think this one is now sold out it and was relatively in expensive around the £10 price point a great size to carry in my handbag plus I totally love the colour of this.  I am slightly obsessed with rose gold things!  For my base I have been using the Soap & Glory One Heck of a Blot first I know this is designed for oily skins but I find it really moisturising and pore minimising.  Then it has been my trusty Chanel vitalumiere aqua foundation in shade 30 this is one of the most natural looking foundations giving a second skin look but medium coverage one of my all time favourites.  Then to cover the blemishes I have gone back to the Clarins Instant concealer really good a covering the skin and I find it really moisturising great for winter.   To give some shape and colour back to my face I have been using this powder blusher from Topshop makeup called dream phone I have a full review on this blusher here but it is a dark pink / berry colour.  Then a little bit of contouring using my favourite bronzer Nars Laguna and to set the whole face I have been using this banana HD powder from NYX.  On the brows my new favourite from Mac Dip down gel liner and this pinky shade a Mac paint pot in Vintage selection on the lids finishes off the look.

DECEMBER MAKEUP BEAUTY AND HAIR FAVOURITES

DECEMBER MAKEUP BEAUTY AND HAIR FAVOURITES

Hey Lovelies hope we all had a lovely Christmas and New Year, today I bring you the December favourites the last one of the year.  As per usual December always brings with it lots of partying and festivities.  So I was using lots of products to make my makeup last longer and keep my skin hydrated to stop it flaking due to the change in weather.

Skincare wise I have been continuing to use the Chanel serum I picked up in October.  Full review here and have been using it daily so it is only fitting it features as one of my favourites.  Next up a favourite you have seen before on MyBeautySleuth Embroyliss Lait creme concentrate this has helped create a good base for my makeup this month hydrating and helps the foundation glide on.  Next up it is the Soap & Glory One heck of a blot primer now this is meant for oily combination skin but I have found it to be quite hydrating.  Full review here great as well at reducing the pores it has really helped keep the makeup in place.

Now my two favourite makeup products  this month which have been continuously on the face have been Mac paint pot in vintage selection a great nude pinky shade with a very fine glitter sheen to it.  It does not budge and lasts all day this has to be  one of my favourite paint pots so far I have from Mac.  Then on to the brows I have been mixing it up a bit as I am not entirely happy with my brows. So I have been trying out this fluid line from Mac after been recommended this from someone but can't remember who.  Mac fluid line in Dip down technically a eye liner but a very dark brown works fab on the brows and lasts all day I have been applying this with a angle brush.

Last up makeup wise you will have seen if you follow me on Twitter / Instagram I have been trying out this new product from La Roche Posay Effaclar BB Blur a whipped style BB cream which is ultra light and gives incredible coverage alongside SPF I have been impressed so far! with how light weight it is and the level of coverage vs product applied.  Post to follow soon with more info but get in there quick as there was a waiting list already for this product link here.

Two hair products making it into the cut are my two styling heroes keeping my new cut in place and making my hair still looking half decent post party.  No surprise this is a favourite of mine the Mark Hill Anti humidity spray a must have for anyone living in a city also gives lots of shine love this product.  Then we have Co Lab from a Model recommends a dry shampoo for when you are short on time and can't wash your hair another one of my staples.  This is a great product if you have coloured your hair as it is clear I started using it when I had dip dye hair as it was hard to match the shade and love it.

What have been your December favourites?
